Laugh, Dammit.

The only thing worse than a 'lol'* ... Is a 'lololol' ... Because what is that?

I will do the occasional ':)' ... And maybe even ';)' from time to time ... But I just can't bring myself to do a 'lol.' And does 'LOL' mean you're laughing more? Or louder? Or that you're just yelling 'LAUGHING OUT LOUD!'?

It has been said that you should rather say 'lqtm' (laughs quietly to myself). It's just a more accurate description.

* Reason being, I am skeptical that you are, in fact, laughing out loud. Are you laughing out loud?! ARE YOU?! I didn't think so.

I hate LOL (also BFF, cu L8R and the use of 2 instead of the word to). I also hate it when people add in little animated faces that roll eyes or give thumbs up.

FAR worse is when people actually say LOL in face to face conversation. SERIOUSLY?!?!

LOL is unnecessary if the person can actually HEAR you laughing.

Sorry- clearly you've hit a nerve...

I agree whole-heartedly. LOL is lazy. I have used it on the rare occasion when I think it might benefit me to keep up with the lingo, (do you ever watch that game show? It's my FAVORITE!)but it's not in my nature to abbreviate. It's also not in my nature to make someone think that what they said is funny when it is clearly not. What's even worse is the ROFLMAO. You're rolling on the floor, huh? I'll believe that when I see it.

I think all these abbreviations show how lazy we have become and if you want to show you are laughing like you said it's easier to me at least to put a smiley face like :).
